Ticket purchase terms

Last updated: 12 July 2026.

These terms apply when you buy a ticket on findout.ie. Please read them with the refund policy and the privacy policy. They are written to be read and understood; if anything is unclear, contact us at hello@findout.ie before you buy.

1. Who you are buying from

The venue or event organiser named on the event page and on your confirmation email is the seller of your ticket. findout is that seller's booking agent: we run the listing and the checkout, take your payment, and send your ticket on the seller's behalf. Your purchase contract for the ticket and for admission to the event is between you and the venue, not between you and findout.

findout does not organise, run, control, or deliver the event, and is not responsible for what happens at it. We collect the ticket money as the venue's limited payment agent, and the ticket price settles to the venue. Because the venue is the seller, the venue is responsible for the event going ahead and for funding any refunds due.

2. Prices and the booking fee

Every price you see is the all-in, VAT-inclusive amount. A per-ticket booking fee is included in the total and itemised separately at checkout before you pay. The booking fee is the charge for the booking service findout provides to you (running the checkout, issuing your ticket, and giving you a place to retrieve it). Because that service is delivered as soon as your ticket is issued, the booking fee is non-refundable where the ticket price itself is refunded for any other reason. It is not a retained margin on the ticket; it is the cost of the service actually provided. The one exception is a cancelled event: if the event is cancelled, you get everything back, including the booking fee.

3. Refunds and cancellations

Tickets are non-refundable by default. The venue sets the refund policy for its event, and that policy is shown to you at checkout. The following applies unless the venue offers you something more generous:

  • Event cancelled. If the venue cancels the event, you are refunded in full, including the booking fee: everything you paid comes back. findout processes that refund to your original payment method once the venue provides the funds.
  • Postponed or rescheduled. Your ticket stays valid for the new date. If you cannot attend the new date, you can request a refund of the ticket face value within 14 days of the new date being announced. After that window the ticket remains valid but is non-refundable.
  • Materially altered. If the event is changed in a way that goes to the heart of what you bought, for example a change of the headline act or a change of date or venue, you can request a refund of the ticket face value. Changes that are not material do not qualify, for example changes to support acts, the running order, set times, staging, or weather at an outdoor event.
  • Change of mind. If you simply cannot attend or no longer want to go, the ticket is non-refundable. See the cooling-off note in section 10.

findout only ever processes a refund on the venue's behalf, from funds the venue provides. findout does not fund refunds itself. Full details are in the refund policy.

4. Your ticket and entry to the event

A ticket is a personal, revocable licence to attend the event on the terms set by the venue. It remains the property of the venue. The venue sets the conditions of entry, including any age limit, ID requirement, and rules of behaviour, and these are the venue's to enforce. The venue may refuse entry to, or remove, anyone who is intoxicated, behaving unacceptably, or posing a safety risk, or who breaches the conditions of entry, and no refund is due in that case. Some tickets may be for seats or areas with a restricted or obstructed view; where that applies it is shown before you buy.

5. Transfer and resale

You may transfer your ticket to someone else through any transfer mechanism findout provides. Reselling or transferring your ticket by any other route, or advertising it for resale without authorisation, is not permitted and may void the ticket without refund. Where you are allowed to resell, you may not sell above the price you paid; selling designated event tickets above face value is prohibited by the Sale of Tickets (Cultural, Entertainment, Recreational and Sporting Events) Act 2021.

6. Keeping your ticket valid

Keep your ticket and its barcode or QR code secure and private. Anyone who presents it may be admitted, and each barcode admits once only: the first valid scan is accepted and any later copy of the same barcode is refused. findout and the venue are not responsible for tickets that are lost, stolen, copied, screenshotted, or shared, or for a duplicated barcode being refused at the door. findout may cancel an order and void its tickets where we reasonably suspect fraud, automated or bulk buying, or a payment that is later reversed or recalled.

7. Payment problems and chargebacks

If something is wrong with your order, contact us at hello@findout.ie before raising a dispute with your bank, so we can put it right. Raising a chargeback against a valid purchase may result in the order being cancelled, the tickets voided, and your access to buy on findout being suspended.

8. Responsibility and limits

Responsibility for the event, including it going ahead as advertised and any refund due, sits with the venue as seller, up to the ticket price you paid. findout's own responsibility to you, for the booking service it provides, is limited to the fees findout earned on your order.

Neither findout nor the venue is liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for wasted travel, accommodation, or other costs you incur in connection with the event.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes any liability that cannot lawfully be limited or excluded, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, liability for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any of your statutory rights as a consumer.

9. Events beyond reasonable control

Neither findout nor the venue is responsible for failure or delay caused by events beyond its reasonable control, for example fire, flood, severe weather, epidemic, power or network failure, industrial action, or an act of a public authority. Where such an event causes the event to be cancelled, your refund rights in section 3 still apply.

10. No 14-day cooling-off period

Your ticket is for a leisure event on a specific date. Under Irish and EU consumer law (the Consumer Rights Act 2022, giving effect to Directive 2011/83/EU, Article 16(l)), the 14-day distance-selling right to cancel does not apply to the supply of leisure services for a specific date. This means a change-of-mind cancellation is non-refundable. This does not affect your right to a refund if the event is cancelled or materially altered, as set out in section 3.

11. Your statutory rights

Nothing in these terms affects the rights you have as a consumer that cannot be waived or reduced by agreement. You can find independent information about your rights from the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (ccpc.ie) and Citizens Information (citizensinformation.ie).

12. Governing law

These terms, and any dispute connected with your ticket purchase, are governed by the laws of Ireland, and the Irish courts have jurisdiction.
