This page explains the cookies and similar storage findout.ie uses. Some are needed to run the site, so they are always on. Anything that is not strictly necessary, which for findout means only our analytics, runs only if you allow it. You choose when you first visit, and you can change your mind at any time (see the last section). How we use personal data more generally is in the privacy policy.
Categories
Strictly necessary storage lets you log in, stay logged in, keep your county choice, complete checkout, and stay secure. It cannot be switched off because the site does not work without it, and under the ePrivacy rules it does not need consent.
Analytics is first-party only. It counts views and clicks on events so we can see what is popular and improve findout. Following Data Protection Commission guidance, analytics is not treated as strictly necessary even though it is first-party, so it runs only with your consent.
findout does not use advertising or third-party marketing cookies, and does not use third-party analytics such as Google Analytics.

These use your browser's session storage rather than traditional cookies, but they are treated the same way: nothing is stored until you accept analytics.
Changing your choice
When you first visit, you can accept everything, reject everything non-essential, or choose analytics on or off. To change your choice later, clear the fo_consent cookie in your browser and reload findout; the banner will ask again. We also ask again on our own every 6 months. Questions about cookies?
